Ascot RT Jet Skiing 2008
Ascot Round Table and friends had a real blast jet-skiing on the lake at the Lagoona Park jet-ski centre at Pingewood (just off J11 of the M4) on Tuesday evening 9 Sept 2008. The group comprised Tablers from Ascot RT, members of Ascot's 41 Club, Windsor & Eton RT's Chairman Leigh Dworkin, Ascot RT Prospective Member Simon Papworth and Richard Crafer (a work colleague of our Area Chairman Matthew Hallett)
The simply awful weather of the afternoon was replaced by clearer weather in the evening just before the event was due to start; there was even some very scarce sunshine glinting off the water for a while - as proved in the photos ! A great time was had by all while riding the sports "stand-up" model jet-skis as well as the "sit-down cruiser" type. Ascot Tabler Lindsay Nutbrown and Honorary member David Lindesay both managed a fully upright stance on the "stand-up" skis, while Ascot 41 Club member Bob Mewes notched up the fastest speed on a Seadoo "sit-down" ski at 45 knots !! Shirley, Jamie, Max and all the staff at Lagoona Park were very helpful in hosting the event, including opening specially on their usual "closed day" so that the event could take place on Ascot RT's normal 2nd Tuesday of the month event night. The evening was rounded off with a pub meal on the way back from the jet-ski venue at Ascot Table's normal meeting place "The Old Manor" in Bracknell. All together a fantastically exciting Table event !"
